Leopard prowling in human habitats in Assam have almost become a common thing in various parts of the state.
This has resulted in injuries and even deaths of people and lynching of leopards by agitated mobs. Even as the issue remains unresolved the problem has now erupted in neighboring Arunachal Pradesh as well for the first time.
People in and around Wakro circle in the Lohit district of Arunachal Pradesh have complained that leopards have been creating havoc in their locality for quite some time now. Your channel North East Live has accessed exclusive pictures and visuals of at least a couple of leopards on the prowl and preying upon domestic animals.
People had complained before the forest department but as per reports, not much has been done to date to solve the problem. Sources said that the leopards might have strayed out of the adjacent Kamlang Wildlife Sanctuary in search of food as their natural habitats are shrinking every day due to massive deforestation.
People have approached the government for urgent steps to address the issue at the earliest.
