Legislator Turns Hero: Mizoram MLA Dr ZR Thiamsanga saves lives, helps women deliver babies

Dr ZR Thiamsanga, a doctor who is a legislator from Mizoram’s ruling Mizo National Front (MNF), recently helped save the lives of two women and their babies in his constituency of Champhai North.
Dr Thiamsanga is a specialist in obstetrics and gynaecology.
On August 31, while visiting his constituency, he got a call about a serious situation at Champhai district hospital. The only gynaecologist there was on leave, and a woman urgently needed a C-section.
Dr Thiamsanga wasted no time and rushed to the hospital, successfully performing the procedure.
The very next day, despite being in an official meeting, he learned about another woman needing an emergency C-section, Dr. Thiamsanga immediately went to the hospital and ensured the safe delivery of a healthy baby.
Reportedly, both mothers and their new borns are doing well.
Before becoming a legislator in 2018, Dr. Thiamsanga worked at Aizawl Civil Hospital, the largest healthcare facility in Mizoram. Even before entering politics, he was known for always being available as a doctor, especially in rural areas. He carries a medical kit with him when he travels, which shows his strong commitment to serving the people of Mizoram.
