Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) chief Lalduhoma was sworn in as the new Chief Minister of Mizoram today.

He was administered the oath of office by Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati in the swearing-in ceremony at Raj Bhavan complex in Aizawl.

Outgoing Chief Minister Zoramthanga and former Mizoram Chief Minister Pu Lal Thanhawla, other senior leaders were present at the swearing-in ceremony of Lalduhoma-led government in the state.

Expectations are high from the new Government in the state and the thumping verdict is testimony to it. New Chief Minister Lalduhoma is well aware of the same and has already announced his decision to put a 100-day plan in place.

He has also promised a massive crackdown on corruption and gave clear indications that he would not shy away from handing over cases to the CBI if the need arises.

Lalduhoma has been vocal since the election victory and even assured to take up the Myanmar refugee crisis and the Manipur unrest with the Centre soon.

Along with Lalduhoma, 11 other ministers also took oath of office.

Notably, the 12-Member ministry also include a woman minister, something that has been rare in the state. Lalrinpuii is the new Cabinet’s only woman minister.

Lalrinpuii won from Lunglei East defeating Congress candidate Joseph Lalhimpuia by a margin of 1646 votes.

The ZPM has posted a thumping victory in Mizoram bagging 27 seats in the 40-member assembly defeating the ruling MNF. MNF managed 10 seats. The BJP has won two seats, while the Congress won just one.

Notably, more than half of the 27 ZPM candidates who won the polls are first time MLAs.
