Multinational conglomerate company ITC has come forward to set up an oxygen generating plant in Assam amid the deadly second wave of COVID-19. This was informed by Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma via his Twitter account on Tuesday.
To help mitigate the current crisis arising out of the pandemic situation, the company under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative will install an oxygen plant costing Rs 143.37 lakhs.
Extending his gratitude towards ITC for the generous act, Sarma tweeted, “Our sincere gratitude to @ITCCorpCom for having supported Govt of Assam with a 1050 LPM PSA type Oxygen plant worth Rs 143.37 lakhs as part of their CSR initiative. The purchase order for the same has been issued today. This is indeed an act of kind generosity. Thank you.”

The initiative comes in the wake of an acute shortage of oxygen supply across the country, limiting the healthcare system’s ability to provide necessary medical support to patients.
