First Published: 8th April, 2024 12:48 IST

Ahead of the game, let us look at players to watch out for.

The IPL clash between five-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Chennai on Monday promises to be a spectacle. CSK is coming into the game after a loss to SRH while KKR beat DC by a heavy margin. Ahead of the game, let us look at players to watch out for.

Sunil Narine (KKR)

Sent to open as a hitter with a license to decimate bowlers, Narine has been in top-form, smashing 85 in just 39 balls against DC, which powered KKR to a match-winning total of 272 runs. Having scored 134 runs already and taken three wickets, this could be Narine’s best season if he continues with his consistency.

Angkrish Raghuvanshi (KKR)

The young Indian batter impressed everyone with his 27-ball 54 against DC, which came with five fours and three sixes. Fans and cricket experts alike compared his batting with Shubman Gill and Suryakumar Yadav. Some more good performances will make sure that Angkrish lives upto this early hype attained through his batting in U19 WC 2022.

Mitchell Starc (KKR)

After two expensive, wicketless outings, KKR’s Rs 24 crore-plus buy was subjected to a lot of social media trolling and memes. In a signature Aussie style, Starc made a comeback against DC with a match-winning 2/25, which saw him dismiss teammates David Warner and Mitchell Marsh. Some more big outings will help him justify his price tag.

MS Dhoni (CSK)

Everyone IPL goes, the love fans have for their ‘Thala’ MS Dhoni remains constant. He entertained fans with a hard-hitting 37* in 16 balls against DC, smoking Anrich Nortje for 20 runs in the final over. No doubt at the Chepauk Stadium, fans will want more of this.

Rachin Ravindra (CSK)

After two explosive knocks in the first two matches of 37 and 46, Rachin registered scores of 2 and 12 against DC and SRH. The opener will be aiming to get back in his best touch to give his team flying starts again.

Ravindra Jadeja (CSK)

The premier CSK all-rounder has been a little off-colour, having taken just one wicket in four matches. Though he has scored valuable 84 runs in four matches at an average of 84.00 and at a strike rate of 140, his scoring rate has raised questions sometimes. Jadeja will be eyeing for role of an explosive lower-order finisher in T20 WC and he would have to raise his SR a bit.
