Ticket to Hornbill, India’s largest battle of the bands commenced at Regional Centre of Excellence for Music and Performing Arts (RCEMPA), Jotsoma near Kohima. This event serves as the curtain raiser to the 25th edition of the renowned Hornbill Music Festival 2024.
Out of 130 bands from across India, 30 bands were selected to compete, representing various states including Nagaland, Delhi, Karnataka, West Bengal, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Assam, Maharashtra, Sikkim, Jharkhand, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, and Uttar Pradesh.
On the first day, 15 bands performed, with the remaining 15 scheduled for tomorrow. The final results will be announced tomorrow, revealing the seven bands that will advance to the grand finale on October 21. Nagaland Tourism Minister Temjen Imna Along will be the special guest at the finale.

The competition boasts the largest prize pool for any band battle in India, with a total of ₹4 million up for grabs. The first prize winner will take home ₹20 lakhs, with ₹10 lakhs for second place, and ₹5 lakhs for third. In addition, individual prizes worth ₹5 lakhs in musical equipment will be awarded.
The winning bands will also have the prestigious opportunity to perform at the 25th edition of the Hornbill Festival.
