The representatives from the community are seeking an end to the miseries of the people in the state because of the ongoing violence since May 3

The transgender community of Manipur on Wednesday met Manipur Governor Manipur Anusuiya Uikey and submitted a memorandum seeking restoration of peace and harmony in the state.

“People are suffering a lot. Houses have been burnt. We want this to stop. Since May 3 there has been a lot of unrest. Clashes between communities. We do not want such violence. We submitted a memorandum to the Hon’able for restoration of peace and harmony in the state,” Bonita Pebam told media after the meeting with the Governor in Imphal.

The transgender community of Manipur had earlier called out the leaders of the state, terming them ‘not efficient enough’ to resolve the crisis in Manipur.
They had staged a sit-in at Keishampat in Imphal on Saturday, demanding the government resolve the crisis at the earliest.
Speaking to the media, Secretary of the All Manipur Nupi Maanbi Association (AMANA), Santa Khurai, accused the government both at the Centre and in the state of deliberately trying to continue the conflict to serve their vested political interests. She said that there is a larger picture behind the violence, which has gone beyond that of two communities.
Santa demanded accountability from both the Centre and the state to end the present crisis at the earliest.
