Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma along with his cabinet members will leave for Delhi on Tuesday to seek an appointment with Union Home Minister Amit Shah on the issue.

With growing pressure over implementation of Inner Line Permit (ILP) in Meghalaya, the MDA delegation is expecting an appointment tomorrow evening or by Wednesday.

Some of the MDA coalition leaders including lone BJP minister in the cabinet AL Hek are leaving for Delhi today.

The meeting which has been long due, is likely to be held this week, however, the MDA team is yet to get an appointment from Shah.

BJP minister AL Hek meanwhile, is expecting a positive response from the Centre.

Senior UDP leader Jeminoh Mawthoh is also hoping that the meeting will be fruitful. On the growing sense of impatience due to the delay in implementation of ILP, Mawthoh said such things may take a little time as the objective is to bring a controlled mechanism to check illegal immigration.

It may be mentioned that coming under pressure from the various Civil Society groups and NGOs, the state government had passed a resolution to pursue the centre to implement ILP in the state on Dec 19.

However, despite several attempts to fix an appointment with the Union Home Minister, the talks have so far not yet materialized.
