IED implanted in front of BJP office in Imphal

Locals of Chingamakha Meisnam Leikai initially noticed a suspicious-looking object in front of the office following which the matter was reported to the police.

A bomb that was planted in front of a local BJP office in Imphal has been disposed off. The bomb, suspected to be an IED, was planted in front of the BJP Ward Committee Office located at Ward no 16 in the Singjamei assembly constituency.

Locals of Chingamakha Meisnam Leikai initially noticed a suspicious-looking object in front of the office following which the matter was reported to the police.

Soon the police arrived at the spot and examined the scenario after which a bomb disposal squad was brought in. After this, the bomb was disposed and a possible disastrous scenario was averted.

The bomb was disposed of at about 10:50 am today in the locality itself. While no militant outfit has claimed responsibility, police have begun their investigation regarding the matter.

Meanwhile, the we have reactions of Thockchom Eliza, the corporator of Ward No 16, who was running the office. Talking about the matter, the BJP corporator said that all the 27 corporators of the BJP have received extortion demands of Rs 10 lakh each.

Thockchom Eliza said that they suspect that militant groups might be behind these threats and activities.
