India’s mission evacuation is underway on a war footing. The centre has deployed several aircraft of the Indian Air Force to assist in the ongoing evacuation of thousands of Indian citizens from conflict-torn Ukraine, which is embroiled in a war with Russia.

IAF’s heavy-lift transport aircraft C-17 Globemaster took off for Ukraine around 4 am this morning.

IAF’s aircraft have also taken food, medicines and other essential items for those facing the brunt of Russia’s invasion on Ukraine.

The move comes after Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called for the Indian Air Force to join the evacuation efforts in order to scale up the ongoing evacuation efforts from Ukraine.

The decision is aimed at ensuring more people can be evacuated in a shorter time frame.

Meanwhile, at least 3 thousand Indians have been evacuated so far from war-torn Ukraine as part of the government’s Operation Ganga.

As of today, two special flights with evacuated Indians has jetted off from Poland to New Delhi. A total of 437 Indians are being evacuated in these special flights.
