Earlier, DGP GP had informed that a total of 22 persons had been detained from Guwahati, North Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Sadiya, Dibrugarh and Tinsukia in connection with the case.

Meanwhile, Dibrugarh SP Shwetank Mishra today revealed sensational details about the HSLC paper leak case for the General Science subject.

As far as Dibrugarh is concerned, students of Salt Brook Academy have been found to be involved in the paper leak case. In fact the leaked paper was exchanged in lieu of money.

Dibrugarh SP Swetank Mishra spoke exclusively to Northeast Live and informed that 9 persons including 8 students have been picked up in connection with the case.

The Dibrugarh SP said,”8 students are being interrogated and 1 informant is with us so total 9 persons are there. 1 is not a student, the others are students and we are verifying their age. We have asked their parents to produce their age certificates and verify their age and take legal action accordingly.”

When asked for information about the background of those detained, SP Shwetank Mishra further said,”Students are mostly from Salt Brook Academy and remaining that 1 person is from Dhemaji. They are from Class 11 and are from the Commerce and Science stream also.”

During investigations, police have also accessed crucial leads which suggested that the leaked paper was exchanged in lieu of cash. The Dibrugarh SP said,”Some of them have done money transactions through digital wallets in lieu of transferring the papers. Some people took Rs 500 and some people took Rs 2000.”

Dibrugarh SP Shwetank Mishra also affirmed that necessary legal action for all those involved as the investigation proceeds.

Talking about the matter, Salt Brook Academy Director Aswani Duwarah who went to meet SP Shwetank Mishra informed that he has requested the SP to release these boys so that they can appear the (Class 11) examination on March 17. However, Duwarah claimed that the SP responded to him stating that the matter has been handed over to CID and that he (SP Mishra) can not tell them (CID) anything.

The Salt Brook Academy director said, “The institute had been closed down days earlier after the courses were finished. But given that admit cards (for Class 11) were supposed to be distributed today, those students are appearing for the Class 11 examination and had come to the institution the day before yesterday.”

Since question paper leaks during board exams have been occurring in the state for a long time now, the government would need to establish legislation with the proper punishment in order to address the issue, Duarah added.
