Guwahati woke up to a double tragedy today, one, a brutal murder over Holi celebrations, and the other, a mysterious death of a young woman in the heart of the city.
What should have been a weekend of joy turned into a nightmare as a man was stabbed to death in Garchuk for resisting colours during Holi celebrations, while a young woman was found dead under mysterious circumstances at Dighalipukhuri.
Holi Festivities Turn Bloody in Guwahati: Man Stabbed to Death for Resisting Colours in Garchuk
The vibrant festival of colours took a dark turn when a man was brutally stabbed to death at Bhoirob Baba Path in South Basistha Nagar, Garchuk after he allegedly refused to have Holi colours applied to him.
The deceased has been identified as 35-year-old Tabu Das.
The accused identified as Nripen Chandra Das, attacked Tabu with a sharp weapon in a fit of rage, turning the joyous occasion into a crime scene.
Another person was also injured in the attack.
Despite being rushed to the hospital, Tabu succumbed to multiple stab injuries.
Police have arrested the accused and are investigating the matter.
Meanwhile, the incident has sparked outrage among the locals in the area.
Girl Found Dead at Guwahati’s Dighalipukhuri
Another tragedy unfolded at the historic Dighalipukhuri pond, where a young girl was found dead under mysterious circumstances last night amid Holi celebrations.
The deceased has been identified as 22-year-old Dipsikha Nath, a resident of Satgaon in Guwahati. She had been missing since morning.
Her sudden disappearance and shocking death have raised several questions. Was it a tragic accident, a case of suicide, or was foul play involved?
Police have launched an investigation into the matter.
While initial reports indicate no external injuries, forensic experts are analysing evidence, and post-mortem results will determine the cause of death.
