Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is campaigning for the BJP in poll-bound Uttarakhand today. The Assam Chief Minister, who is in Uttarakhand, is addressing his second rally at Dehradun.

Chief Minister Sarma kickstarted his first rally at Kichha today. Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Sarma made a scathing attack on Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra for promoting the ongoing Hijab row. Further, Chief Minister Sarma also blamed the Congress for underdevelopment and rampant corruption that has affected Uttarakhand.

The Assam CM further defended his move to shut down all government-run madrassas in Assam by saying that he wants Muslim children to learn in general schools and colleges and pick proper careers for themselves.

Himanta Biwa Sarma also targeted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for questioning the army’s integrity when surgical strikes were conducted in Pakistan in 2019.
The Assam CM further targeted Rahul Gandhi for a tweet in which he called India a “union of states” but didn’t mention the Northeast while pointing out the country’s geographical boundaries.

Notable here is that Chief Minister Sarma has been listed as one of the star campaigners for the BJP for the Uttarakhand state polls. During the election campaign tour, the Assam Chief Minister will likely be engaged in door-to-door campaigning in several places. Besides, Chief Minister Sarma will also attend a few BJP meetings as part of his day-long tour.

Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has said that peace has returned to the Northeast in a big way. He said that now the situation is so peaceful that CMs do not have to take any major security cover for themselves anymore.
