Heroin worth Rs 5.5 crore seized in Meghalaya, 2 held

In a successful joint operation, the Meghalaya Police and East Jaintia Hills Police have foiled the plans of drug traffickers, leading to the seizure of 48 boxes of heroin valued at Rs 5.5 crore.

Two vehicles and various incriminating documents were also seized. Two individuals have been apprehended in connection with this case.

Taking to X, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma lauded the successful operation of Meghalaya police, East Jaintia police and DGP L R Bishnoi.

“Huge haul of drugs by @MeghalayaPolice! The shrewd traffickers tried to hoodwink cops by changing their MO but alert @ejhpolice foiled their evil design to ruin youth and nabbed two interstate traffickers, seized 48 boxes of Heroin worth ₹5.5 Crore, two vehicles and other incriminating materials. I applaud the relentless drive by @lrbishnoiips and his team. Our crusade against drugs will continue unabated till this menace is extirpated from the state @HMOIndia @Narcoticsbureau @PTI_News @ANI @PIB_India @PIBShillong @proshillong”, CM Conrad Sangma on X.
