A demonstration demanding re-polling in at least 23 polling booth under Henglep assembly constituency spiralled out of control as supporters of NPP, Congress, Shiv Sena and an independent candidate tried to storm into the Churachandpur Deputy Commissioner’s office.
The protesters alleged that rebels under suspension of operations, or S.O.O, engaged in booth capturing in the 23 polling stations under Henglep AC.
Police had to resort to tear gas shelling to disperse the protesters.

It was a war-like situation outside a DC’s office for a while, as supporters of both parties tried to force their way in. As per inputs provided by our Churachandpur correspondent MK Henry, around 6-7 persons received injuries in the face off.
Meanwhile, section 144 has been imposed in the area, prohibiting the movement of people in groups. Those injured have been admitted to the Churachandpur district hospital.
It may be mentioned that a few incidents of EVM damage and alleged booth capturing attempts leading to preventive blank firing by security personnel were reported from 51-Saitu, 57-HengIep and 60-Singhat Assembly Constituencies yesterday.
