Indian cricketer Hardik Pandya has issued a clarification after his luxury watch was seized by customs officials at the Mumbai airport.
The cricketer said that wrong perceptions have been floating around the social media sites regarding his declaration to the customs at Mumbai airport.

He asserted that he had gone to the Mumbai airport customs counter voluntarily to declare the items he had brought to pay the required customs charge.

He also said that the cost of the watch is not 5 crore as per the rumours floating around on social media. Rather the approximate cost of the watch is Rs 1.5 crore.
The Indian cricket team returned home on November 15 after being knocked out of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup at the group stage following ignominious defeats against Pakistan and New Zealand.
Upon the arrival at the airport from Dubai, the customs officials found Hardik Pandya in possession of a luxury watch which started the speculation about his watches.

As per reports, Hardik Pandya has some of the costliest watches in his watch collection that including the Patek Philippe Nautilus Platinum 5711 costing over Rs 5 crore.

It may be mentioned that last year, Hardik Pandya’s brother Krunal Pandya was detained at the Mumbai airport for reportedly failing to declare four costly watches to the Customs.

However, the Mumbai Indians player claimed he had no knowledge of the declaration process or Customs tax, as per reports.
