Mara ThyutliaPy (MTP) has urged the CDF-Mindat to immediately hand over the suspected murderers of the 3 persons from Mizoram, including a woman, who were killed inside Myanmar on March

South Mizoram’s Siaha-based general headquarters of the Mara ThyutliaPy (MTP), the largest civil society of Siaha district, has urged the Chin Defence Force (CDF)-Mindat to immediately hand over the suspected murderers of the three persons from Mizoram, including a woman, who were killed inside Myanmar on March 19 and their charred bodies were found on March 22.

In a press statement issued in Burmese language, the MTP said that they received information through social media that the CDF-Mindat issued a press release on Sunday that the outfit has arrested the suspects of the triple murder inside Myanmar.

Three persons – 2 from Siaha district, including a woman and 1 person from adjoining Lawngtlai district were reportedly murdered inside Myanmar on March 19 and their charred bodies found on March 22.

The MTP quoted the press release of CDF-Mindat that they (the Myanmar civil armed militia fighting against the military junta) havearrested the culprits of the March 19 murder ‘with sufficient andreliable evidence’.

“If the CDF-Mindat’s statement is true, we thanked the CDF. However, in order to authenticate the statement, we need to find ways to connect with them to find the proof,” the MTP said.

As the 3 deceased persons were transported from Siaha district, the suspects should be handed over to the authorities through the MTP, the statement demanded.

The MTP expressed regrets that the innocent refugees taking refuge in Mizoram have been facing problems due to the misdeeds of few criminals.

“While provision of humanitarian assistance continued, we wanted that the culprits of the gory murder should be given befitting punishment according to the law,” the statement added.

The charred bodies of Biaksuii (48), Lalthafamkima (37),and BabluTalukdar (44), were found on the night of March 22inside Myanmar after they had gone missing on March 19 evening.

They traveled to Myanmar from Ainak village in Lawngtlai district and were reportedly killed due to misunderstanding over money meant for purchase of weapons for the CDF.

Police suspected that they were killed before burning them.

Meanwhile, a senior state police official on Tuesday said that authenticity of the CDF Press Release of April 9 could not yet be confirmed.
