Students of Gossaigaon College took out a protest rally in the town demanding strict action against a professor who was allegedly harassing a girl student.

A girl student has accused, Joynal Abedin, an assistant professor at the Gossaigaon college of sexually harassing her over the telephone.  

In the meantime, the phone call which Abedin made to the girl student has gone viral.

Students of the Gosaigaon college gathered in the college premises, took out a protest march in areas near the college demanding action against the errant teacher.

They have also appealed to the College authority to suspend Joynal Abedin from the college with immediate effect.

It may be noted that as per the latest report of the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) figures for 2020, Assam recorded the highest rate of crime against women in the country for the fourth consecutive year.

Crimes likes sexual assault against women in India goes unreported due to the shame and taboo associated with it.
