CM Sangma urged everyone to vote for his wife and party candidate Mehtab Chandee.

As the ruling National People’s Party (NPP) gears up for the upcoming Gambegre by-polls in Meghalaya, party chief and Chief Minister Conrad Sangma expressed confidence in the electorate’s desire for change.

Taking to X, CM Sangma said that the people of Anchenggre village, located in the Gambegre subdivision of West Garo Hills district are counting on the NPP to deliver on their hopes for progress and NPP will not disappoint them as they seek to bring about positive transformations in the region.

He urged everyone to vote for his wife and party candidate Mehtab Chandee.

“The people of Anchenggre A village are hoping for change and are counting on the NPP to deliver! We will not disappoint them. Vote for Chandi, Vote for Change, Vote for NPP,” CM Sangma posted on X.

The Gambegre Assembly seat fell vacant after the resignation of sitting Congress MLA, Saleng A. Sangma, who was elected as the Member of Parliament from the Tura parliamentary seat in the Lok Sabha elections earlier this year.

The by-poll is expected to be held within six months, though the Election Commission is yet to announce the official date.

Mehtab Chandee is up against Dengnakpara MDC and TMC Sadhiarani Sangma, Congress candidate Jingjang M Marak. BJP is yet to announce its candidate.
