In a rather surprising development, former chief minister of Tripura, Manik Sarkar, who is known for being an austere politician, wrote a letter to the secretary of the state’s Legislative Assembly asking the government to provide him with a new quarter which would be suitable for him.

In his letter he wrote and I quote “I am in need of a befitting residential quarter since I have no permanent residence” unquote. It may be mentioned that former chief minister and now leader of the opposition Manik Sarkar has often been known for being a charitable leader who would donate his salary to the needy and had even chosen to live in the CPI-M office after he vacated his official residence post the BJP’s victory in the 2018 elections.
