Former Assam DGP Bhaskarjyoti Mahanta sworn in as State Chief Information Commissioner

Former Assam DGP Bhaskarjyoti Mahanta has been appointed as the State Chief Information Commissioner today at Raj Bhawan in Guwahati

Bhaskarjyoti Mahanta, former Director General of Police (DGP) of Assam, has been appointed as the State Chief Information Commissioner.

The Former Assam DGP was administered the oath of office by Governor Gulab Chandra Kataria at Raj Bhawan in Guwahati today, in the presence of several dignitaries including DGP GP Singh and ADGP Hiren Nath.

A 1988 batch Assam-Meghalaya cadre Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, Mahanta has had a distinguished career in law enforcement. Before he was appointed the State Chief Information Commissioner, he had retired as Assam DGP on January 31.
