In what can be termed as a big fallout of the Centre’s decision to push for the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, former Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Gegong Apang resigned from BJP’s primary membership on Tuesday.

Unhappy over the party’s functioning, Apang shot off a letter to BJP national president Amit Shah stating that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had ignored the issue.

Apang also alleged that the Centre is indifferent to other crucial issues like the Naga peace talks and Chakma-Hajong issue.

In his letter, Apang stated that he was disappointed as the party was not moving ahead following the principles of Late prime minister and BJP patriarch Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Apang alleged that the party is only craving for power by sidelining ideologies and ethics. His resignation comes as a big setback to the ruling BJP as the state goes to polls early this year.
