The 28 year old beauty queen was diagnosed with malignant breast cancer in 2022
Rinky Chakma, Miss India Tripura 2017, has died at the age of 28 after a two-year battle with cancer.
She was diagnosed with a malignant Phyllodes Tumor (breast cancer) in 2022, for which she underwent multiple surgeries. However, she failed in the battle and eventually succumbed to the deadly disease.
On February 22, Rinky Chakma was rushed to Max Hospital Saket, New Delhi, in a critical condition. She was placed on ventilator support due to the critical nature of her condition. Unfortunately, her lungs, severely compromised by the aggressive cancer, witnessed a rapid decline, leading to her death, reports said.
The former Miss India Tripura opened up about her health condition last month. In a heartfelt post on Instagram, Chakma shared the intimate details of her arduous journey and asked for financial support for her treatment.
“Hi everyone , i hope everyone is doing fit and fine . First of all , I wanted to apologize for MIA for too long . I have been struggling alone for quite a while now . I did not want to tell anyone about my health for 2 years because i thought ill battle and heal on my own . But i guess its time i tell everyone about my health. I was diagnosed with Malignant phyllodes tumour (breast cancer in 2022). After i had my first surgery , it metastasized into my lungs and now in my head (brain tumor). My brain surgery is still pending as it’s already widespread all my right side of my body till my lungs and it will only be possible if i heal with chemotherapy first with just 30% hope. Currently, im getting chemo sessions. Hopefully, after this we will get my brain surgery done too. I just wanted to let everyone know that me and my family is going through a rough time and the last 2 years have also not been easy with regular hospital stays and visits.I am accepting donations as of now because we have exhausted all our savings on my treatment since the last two years. I thought letting everyone know what i am going through will also make me feel better .Please sent me messages instead of calling as i am too weak to recieve them with my treatments . Also, remember me in ur prayers. Sending love and healing to everyone. 🙏.” her last post read.
