After inspecting the problem of soil erosion caused by the Brahmaputra River, Hazarika said that the people of Dibrugarh can expect water woes to decrease significantly in one year’s time.
“We have allotted Rs 329 crores for the region to ensure the protection of 30km length of banks. The tender has been awarded and work has begun, but with the rise in water level, the work has been paused”, he stated.
“Temporary work is going on. There is no shortage of funds and it is a big achievement. I want to tell the people of Dibrugarh that Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is very concerned about you and wants the best for you. My next visit will be to oversee the completion of this work”, the Water Resources minister added.
