Assam continues to witness a rising trend in terms of Covid-19 cases that has led to the cancellation of some popular festivals in the state.
The occasion of Magh Bihu sees several local traditional festivals in different parts of the state. However, this year due to the prevailing Covid scenario, many of these festivals have been cancelled.
The well-known Monikut festival of Hajo this year stands cancelled after organisers decided to hold in view of the rising Covid cases.
Meanwhile, the popular event of buffalo fight in Assam’s Morigaon district has also been cancelled. Keeping in view the rising Covid cases, the organisers decided not to hold the event this year so as to not attract huge crowds and risk a fresh Covid outbreak in the area.
