Falcon Festival 2022: 8th edition of the fest gets underway in Umrangso

The 8th edition of Falcon Festival kicked off with great enthusiasm at the Golf course near Umrangso in Dima Hasao today.
The three day long festival was inaugurated by the Chief Executive Member (CEM ), NC Hills Autonomous Council, Debolal Gorlosa.
The first day of the festival saw traditional dances by several groups from different communities.
Debolal Gorlosa attended the opening ceremony of the festival as a chief guest. He also released a documentary on celebrating bio-diversity, Amur falcon in Umrangso and a brochure.
Speaking at the event, CEM Gorlosa welcomed all visitors and participants of the festival. While praising the Forest Department for its excellent work in protecting the Winged Visitors, the CEM also expressed gratitude towards the people of Umrangso and Dima Hasao for their assistance to the NCHAC.
Speaking to Northeast Live, CEM Debolal Gorlosa expressed optimism that the 3 day festival will be conducted in a grand manner.
He also stated that the Autonomous Council, District Administration and locals are jointly maintaining the law and order during the festival.
The main goal of organising this event is to raise awareness about the Siberian Amur Falcons and work toward their conservation. During the winter, these migratory birds visit the northeastern region of the country to nest.
The event also promotes tourism in the surrounding area.
It intends to invite people from all over the country to witness the arrival of these beautiful birds.
