The Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) and its six federating units have unanimously decided to begin their first phase of agitation from November 30 and subsequent boycott of the Nagaland
The Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) and its six federating units have unanimously decided to begin their first phase of agitation from November 30 and subsequent boycott of the Nagaland Statehood day and Hornbill Festival on December 1.
The move comes following the expiry of the seven-day ultimatum given by the ENSF to the state government to meet its charter of demands that include incorporation of contents and implementation of job reservation in the Nagaland Staff Selection Board (NSSB) for the six backward tribes of Eastern Nagaland.
Speaking to mediapersons, ENSF president Sepili L Sangtam, informed that as the ultimatum served by the federation had expired, the ENSF and its six federating Units has been compelled to resort to democratic forms of agitation since there has been no positive response from the Nagaland Government on their demands.
Sangtam also alleged that Eastern Nagas were ‘intentionally’ suppressed and deprived in all developmental fronts even after more than 57 years of statehood.
The ENSF informed that the Eastern Nagas contributed equally in the formation of statehood, and therefore, the benefits, especially in the employment sector, should also be shared equally.
