An earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale hit Mizoram’s Thenzawl at around 5:15 am today.

According to National Center for Seismology (NCS), the epicentre of the quake was 73km southeast of Thenzawl.

“Earthquake of Magnitude:6.1, Occurred on 26-11-2021, 05:15:38 IST, Lat: 22.77 & Long: 93.23, Depth: 12 Km ,Location: 73km SE of Thenzawl, Mizoram,”NCS tweeted.

According to witness accounts posted on the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre’s (EMSC) website and users on Twitter, the quake was felt in Bangladesh’s Chittagong and as far away as Kolkata, some 280 miles (450.62 km) from Aizawl.
