Drugs worth Rs 5.94 cre seized in Mizoram, 3 including 2 women arrested

Arrested drug peddlers have been identified as-- Lalmuntlunga, Lalrinkhumi and Zomawi Bawngkawn

Security Forces have recovered a large quantity of drugs with a market value of Rs. 5.94 crore in Mizoram. Three drug peddlers including two women have also been arrested in connection with the seizure.

As per inputs, personnel of the Border Security Force (BSF) and team of Excise and Narcotics Department, Aizawl conducted a joint operation near Muallungthu Village, Aizawl on Wednesday.

During the operation, the joint team intercepted a vehicle at Khumtung Road Junction. On checking the vehicle thoroughly, the team recovered 5.943 Kg suspected Pseudoephedrine Tablets.

The seized drugs are estimated to be worth over 5.94 crores in the international market.

The arrested drug peddlers have been identified as– Lalmuntlunga (M) of Dilkawn in Champhai district, Lalrinkhumi (F) and Zomawi Bawngkawn (F) of Aizawl.

In its drive against the illegal trafficking of drugs and narcotics, the Mizoram and Cachar Frontier BSF have seized drugs worth Rs. 214 Crore rupees since January 2023 till date.
