Assam: Drugs worth Rs 12 crore seized in Kamrup district

Assam police have seized drugs worth Rs 12 crore and arrested three drug peddlers in two separate operations in Kamrup district.

Based on secret information about three persons carrying drugs from Guwahati to Dhubri by a vehicle, a team of Kamrup district police led by Additional Superintendent of Police, Kalyan Pathak carried out an operation on Saturday night.

During the operation, the police team intercepted the vehicle in the Palashbari area and recovered 50 soap boxes containing 700 grams of heroin.

The arrested drug peddlers have been identified as– Abdul Hai, Mohidul Islam and Rofikul Islam.

On the other hand, in connection with the June 25 drugs case in which two drug peddlers were arrested with drugs worth Rs 18 crore, police yesterday recovered 40 more soap cases containing 500 grams drugs from a hidden chamber of a vehicle that had met with an accident, said police said.
