Drugs worth Rs. 100 crore recovered in Mizoram ahead of assembly elections

Ahead of the assembly elections in Mizoram, the Assam Rifles have recovered a large quantity of drugs with a market value of Rs. 100 crore.
As per inputs, over a period of 4 days, Assam Rifles troops carried out a series of operations in east Mizoram’s Champhai district near the Myanmar border.
On October 16, the Assam Rifles and state police team conducted a joint operation in Zokhawthar village, Champhai district. During the operation, the joint team seized 1.5 lakh tablets (17 kg) of methamphetamine worth Rs 45 crore.
This is the third recovery in just a period of four days since October 12.
On October 12, the Assam Rifles and state Excise and Narcotics department had seized 40,400 tablets of Methamphetamine worth Rs. 12.12 crore at Zote village in Champhai district and arrested one person in the connection.
In another operation at Zokhawthar on October 13, the paramilitary force recovered Methamphetamine tablets worth Rs. 45 crore and arrested a 24-year-old Myanmar national in the connection.
With the recovery of these drugs over the period of 4 days, the Assam Rifles have so far recovered the stimulant drug worth over Rs. 100 crore, said Assam Rifles sources.
