Drugs worth over 3 cr seized in Guwahati, 6 including 5 Manipur-based drug peddlers arrested

Continuing with the crackdown on illegal drug trafficking in the state, Assam Police seized drugs worth over Rs 3 crore from mulitiple locations in Guwahati late last night.
Police also arrested 5 Manipur-based drug traffickers and one from Assam’s Hajo in connection to the case.
Acting on a tip-off, the Crime Branch Guwahati and Dispur police carried out a search operation at house no. 40 in Purvanchal Path, Near Sun Valley Hospital, Downtown.
During the operation, the Police team recovered 24 soap boxes containing 280 grams of suspected heroin and arrested 3 drug traffickers.
The arrested drug peddlers have been identified as– James Hingba (33)of Senapati district, Nikhil Leimapokpam (30) and and Junaid Ahmed (26) of Imphal West.
Meanwhile, in another instance, a team of the West Guwahati Police Department (WGPD) raided a residence at Lalmati.
During the raid, Police recovered 20 soap packs containing suspected heroin and Rs. 1,72,400 in cash. Police arrested 3 drug peddlers including two women in connection to the case.
The arrested drug peddlers have been identified as–Abdul Alim of Hajo, Assam, N Kaine (30) and Sara (41), both from Senapati district of Manipur.
The seized drugs are estimated to be worth over 3 crores in the international market.
