In a bid to enhance the understanding of the biological diversity of the country, the importance of local bio-resources, their sustainable use and conservation, the Tripura government is mulling over coming up with more Department of Biotechnology Natural Resources Awareness Clubs or DNA clubs in schools.

Speaking to media after the felicitations of representatives of various DNA Clubs at the Directorate of Biotechnology in Agartala, Deputy Chief Minister and Science and Technology Minister Jishnu Dev Varma said that along with the DNA clubs, the government is planning to introduce a movable planetarium to inculcate scientific temperament among school students.

At present, there are 20 DNA clubs functioning across various schools in the state to provide experiential learning opportunities to students in biotechnology and natural resources, besides enhancing better understanding among them about the value of biological diversity.
