Assam’s well-known industrialist and social worker Dipok Kumar Barthakur was today consigned to flames as his last rites were performed with full state honours.
The last rites were performed at Guwahati’s Navagarha crematorium.
Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma was at the funeral to pay his last respects to the mortal remains of Barthakur.
Several prominent citizens and personalities were present at the funeral as the state bid farewell to one of its illustrious sons.
Speaking at the funeral, Chief Minister Sarma paid glowing tributes to the late Barthakur.

Dipok Kumar Barthakur died on February 16 at the age of 84 in a Chennai hospital after a brief illness.
He leaves behind his wife, Indira Borthakur, 2 daughters, son-in-laws and grandchildren.
He was one of Assam’s most prominent industrialists, social workers and philanthropists.
Barthakur was the Vice-chairman of the State Innovation and Transformation Ayog.
Barthakur was also the chairman of Shankar Netralaya and founder of Balaji temple.
He also set up the LB Group of Industries that employs hundreds of people in different ventures.
