The improvised explosive device (IED) was recovered by Delhi Police this morning from one of the busiest flower markets in Ghazipur.
Delhi Police had received a call regarding a suspicious bag at around 10:30 am after which Special Cell officials rushed to the spot and the elite counterterrorism force – National Security Guard (NSG) – was also called in. Fire tenders were sent to the site as well.
Agencies also shared a photograph of the abandoned bag containing the IED found at the Ghazipur Flower Market in East Delhi.
The entire was immediately cordoned off. Special cell sleuths inspected the pavement outside the gate where the IED bag was reportedly kept. Sniffer dogs were also brought in to trace the origin of the bag.
The National Security Guard said it received the information from the Delhi Police at around 11 am and the explosive was refused around 1.30 pm. The weight of recovered IED recovered was approximately 3 kg. The NSG team will submit a report on the chemical component used to assemble the explosive.
