Deeply pained by the violence: Mizoram CM Zoramthanga to Manipur counterpart N Biren Singh

Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma too expresses concern over Manipur situation, tweets about it

Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga spoke to his Manipur counterpart N Biren Singh and discussed the prevailing situation in the state. Before a telephonic conversation, the Mizoram Chief Minister wrote a letter to CM N Biren Singh conveying his concerns regarding the violence in Manipur that has “shattered the calm of peace in the Northeastern region.”
“I am deeply pained by the violence that has flared up in parts of Your state and the underlying tension between the Meitei community and tribals there. I urge you to exercise the kind of leadership that the people of your own state know you are capable of and reach out to all parties involved to try and bring an end to this senseless violence,” CM Zoramthanga wrote.
Chief Minister Zoramthanga also assured highest level of cooperation of his government and the people of Mizoram for “reconciliation and healing” in Manipur.
Meanwhile, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh informing about his discussions with the Mizoram Chief Minister over the phone and said, “I also want to appreciate and honour the Honble CM of Mizoram Zoramthanga Ji, who just recently called me up on the telephone and he assured and he apprised many things about the community living in Mizoram and about the communities living in Manipur. I also apprised about the present situation that is was because of the misunderstanding and communication gap between the 2 communities.”
While reiterating that whatever had happened was an outcome of “misunderstanding and communication gap,” Chief Minister N Biren Singh clearly said, “now everything has been settled and (situation) will be normalized very soon.”
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma too expressed his concerns over the situation in Manipur. CM Conrad Sangma tweeted, “Pained and disturbed to see the unrest in Manipur. The beautiful sister state has come a long way towards peace and harmony. Appeal to our brothers and sisters to come together for peace.”
