Shruti Lata Singh vowed to fight for deaf and blind people's rights at the State Level Deafblindness Training for Samagra Shiksha Resource Teachers

Shruti Lata Singh, Sense International (India) advocacy officer and India’s first deaf-blind physiotherapist has vowed to fight for deaf and blind people’s rights at the State Level Deafblindness Training for Samagra Shiksha Resource Teachers held on December 17 in Manipur’s Churachandpur.
The programme was organised by DbRC, Shishu Sarothi in collaboration with the Centre for Community Initiative (CCI) at Malsawm Ability Centre in Churachandpur.
She attended the event to act as a resource person.
Speaking to Northeast Live she talked about the the challenges she faced as a woman with progressive deaf-blindness, how she overcame them, and her vision for India’s deafblind youth.
She said that as a patient with progressive blindness, she has had the opportunity to receive a better education because of which she is now able to fight for the rights of deaf and blind people.
Shruti also thanked Sense International (India) for allowing her to work and help deafblind youth across the country.
She further said that she faced discrimination due to communication problems.
