Day 7 of Hornbill Festival: Cultural programmes Of North-Eastern states showcased

The 7th day of the Hornbill festival marked many cultural programme from North-eastern states

Cultural programmes of Northeastern States were the highlight of day 7 of the ongoing Hornbill Festival in Nagaland. Chief of Navy Staff, Admiral R. Hari Kumar attended Day 7 as the chief guest and the host was V. Kashiho Sangtam, Minister for Soil and Water Conservation, Geology and Mining.

Artists from the northeastern states performed their colourful dance and songs in the morning and evening cultural sessions. Hozagiri cultural dance of Tripura’s Reang community, Erap Hanam dance of the Galo Community of Arunachal, Cheraw dance of the Mizo community, Shad Pliang folk dance of Jaintia Community of Meghalaya, Doh Mahi KIKan dance of Karbi Community of Assam, ‘Singhi Chham (The Mount Kanchanjunga Snow Lion) dance of Sikkim, Pung Cholom dance, Dhol Dholak Cholom, Cheirol Jagoi Stick Dance and Thang-Ta Martial Art were performed.

R. Hari Kumar thanked and expressed his best wishes to the people and hoped that the Hornbill festival would be a channel of blessing to the people of the state and the countries as well. He also said that the festival has been given a landmark in the tourist calendar across the globe and mentioned that around 200 personnel from Nagaland are serving in different categories in the field of Navy. He encouraged the younger generation to join for a short period of four years to avail themselves of the opportunities in the field of the Navy to serve the nation in different capacities.

Y.K. Chaubey, Chairman and Managing Director, National Hydroelectric Power Corporation, was the chief guest, and Medo Yhokha, Advisor Technical Education, Election, was the host who chaired the morning session on December 7 at Kisama.

Festival of Festivals, Hornbill Festival began on 1st December. The ten-day extravaganza is undoubtedly a euphoric celebration of Nagaland’s rich culture and traditions. The 23rd Hornbill Festival 2022 held at Naga Heritage Village Kisama was inaugurated by Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar.
