CRPF IG Rajiv Singh replaces P Doungel as Manipur DGP

1993 batch Tripura cadre IPS officer, Rajiv Singh replaced P Doungel as the Manipur DGP, who has now been transferred as OSD (Home)
Senior IPS officer Rajiv Singh has been appointed as the new Director General of Police (DGP) and Head of the Police Force in Manipur amid the ethnic tension in the state.
A 1993 batch Tripura cadre IPS officer, Inspector General (IG) of CRPF, Rajiv Singh replaced P Doungel, as Manipur DGP. Doungel has been transferred as OSD (Home).
According to an order from Home Ministry, Singh has been sent from Tripura to Manipur cadre on inter-cadre deputation for three years.
The transfer comes at a time when Manipur is witnessing ethnic clashes since violence broke out in the state on May 3.
Since then, over 80 lives have been lost, hundreds injured, thousands have been displaced, a huge trust deficit between communities have cropped up, and people are fleeing from their homes in their own state.
Following the violence, former CRPF DG Kuldiep Singh was appointed as security adviser to the Manipur government.
