The move comes after the arrest of Saiful Islam, who is suspected to be a member of the Bangladeshi terrorist group.
The Assam government has intensified the crackdown on radical terror modules operating in the state. As part of the ongoing probe, an educational institute purportedly harboring radical elements was evicted in Barpeta.
The Barpeta district administration has evicted Jamiul Huda Islamic Academy. The move comes after the arrest of Saiful Islam, who is suspected to be a member of the Bangladeshi terrorist group Ansar-ul-Bangla Team.
As per inputs, Saiful Islam alias Suman is a Bangladeshi citizen who joined the madrassa as an Arabic teacher and continued his jihadist activities underground. He even worked as an imam in a nearby mosque.
The terrorist organization had tried to strengthen its module in Barpeta district and southern Assam. Moreover, a mobile phone, pen drive, and several important documents were seized from Saiful.
Worth mentioning here the madrassa was established in 2018 after illegally occupying government land.
