CPI-M cannot protect its workers and supporters: Tipra leader Pradyot Debbarma

First Published: 8th September, 2023 21:13 IST

Pradyot Debbarma's clearly speaks about the split in the Opposition which had unified on August 12 before the by-polls

TIPRA Motha leader Pradyot Kishore Debbarma today lashed out at the CPI-M leadership and said that the post the bypoll results, it is clear that the party cannot protect its workers and supporters on the ground.

In a hard hitting statement, the former chairman of the leading opposition party of Tripura said, “After the announcement of results for the Boxanagar and Dhanpur seats, one thing is confirmed that the CPI-M cannot protect its workers, supporters on the ground. The other thing which is clear now is that there have been lot of accusations that the TIPRA Motha always helps the BJP by dividing votes. We did not field candidates this time, but what is the outcome now? Without consulting us, or seeking suggestions they (CPI-M) fielded candidates, and today everyone can witness the result.”
Pradyot affirmed that the TIPRA Motha is fighting for the survival and existence of Tiprasa, for a constitutional solution and Tipraland.

“I want to share with all my warriors, TIPRA Motha is going to fight for the survival and existence of the entire Tiprasa community. We are only with those, who are with us. We will not support anyone without any cause (support for a Constitutional Solution).”
Debbarma’s comments assumes a lot of significance since on August 12, the Opposition – TIPRA Motha, CPI-M and the Congress had decided to fight the BJP together in the by-polls for Dhanpur and Boxanagar assembly constituencies. Inputs suggested, the meeting primarily focused to ensure that there are ‘no division of votes’ amongst the Opposition parties.
