Security forces are maintaining strict vigil along the Indo-Myanmar border in Moreh following the detection of 161 positive COVID-19 cases in neighbouring country Myanmar and 7 cases in Kalay Township close to Manipur border.

Since March 10, Manipur has completely shut its border with Myanmar indefinitely amid the novel coronavirus scare, banning the entry of foreigners.

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has intensified fencing work from March 29, 2020 and upped vigil along the India-Myanmar border in the wake of the pandemic. Additional security forces have been deployed in the bordering towns and villages of the state.
