Manipur on Friday recorded its highest single-day spike in COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours with 75 more testing positive for coronavirus.

With this, the active cases in the state has climbed to 463 and the total cases count stands at 681.

The fresh cases, 41 men and 34 women, were confirmed positive at the Viral Research and Diagnostic Laboartories of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) and Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) hospital in Imphal.

Of the newly infected patients, 30 are from Ukhrul district, 29 from Tamenglong, 7 from Senapati, 4 from Churachandpur, 3 from Chandel and 2 from Kamjong district. They had returned from other states recently and have been shifted to Covid Care Facilities.

Meanwhile, 19 patients were discharged (14 from JN1MS and 5 from RIMS) after they were found negative on RT PCR tests. So far, 218 persons have recovered from the disease.
