COVID-19: Himanta Biswa Sarma visits Bongaigaon to take stock of preparedness

Assam Health and Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday visited Bongaigaon along with Minister of State Pijush Hazarika to review the COVID-19 situation.
The Health Minister took first-hand assessment of the containment zone and checked preparedness at the Quarantine facility in Bongaigaon Civil Hospital.
Sarma advised the district administration to ensure proper care for the positive patients. So far, Bongaigaon district has reported 5 COVID-19 positive cases.
More than 250 people who came into contact with 5 COVID-19 patients in Bongaigaon have been put under institutional quarantine, informed Himanta Biswa Sarma. He also informed that 500 people have been put under home quarantine.
Speaking to media persons, Sarma said, “We have collected samples of all of them. We will decide future course of action on May 11.”
He also expressed satisfaction over the arrangements of the district administration at the containment zones of Bongaigaon.
Meanwhile, the minister stated that only opening of petrol, diesel depots, sale of vegetables and food will be allowed in Bongaigaon, which has been classified as Orange zone. No industrial activities will be permitted in the district.
