A higher secondary first-year student of Cotton University, Guwahati, who allegedly tried to commit suicide by jumping from the second floor of the MCB administrative building of the University on December 12, has died in the hospital today.
The student was undergoing treatment at Nemcare Hospital.
The father of the deceased student has denied reports of his daughter trying to commit suicide and said that her death was a murder, not suicide. “We are cannot accept that she could have taken this extreme step. We think this might be a pre-planned murder”.
Earlier, narrating the incident, one of her classmates said “She attended her Education (subject) class and after finishing her classes, she took the extreme step. We saw her sitting quietly, not talking much. When we asked her the reason behind missing her classes, she mentioned that she was having personal issues. She always seemed depressed. She goes to classes alone, and hardly spends time with others. Last Friday, I spoke with her, and at that time also she was sounding sad. We could sense she was going through a tough time.”
It is still not known if the girl tried to commit suicide or she fell accidentally.
