The war of words between the Congress and the NPP has escalated in Meghalaya over the stepping down of senior Congress leader DD Lapang.

Deputy Chief Minister and NPP leader, Prestone Tynsong refuted allegations levelled by the state Congress of having a role to play in Veteran congress leader’s resignation from the congress.

The Deputy chief minister further maintained that he was shocked to hear the news of Lapang’s resignation.

Earlier, speaking to Northeast Live Congress spokesperson Zenith Sangma said that Dr Lapang’s resignation was predetermined and that he had gone with NPP leaders to Delhi to submit his resignation.

He had also alleged that Dr Lapang is going to contest the upcoming 2019 MP elections from NPP.

He said that he will not be surprised if Dr Lapang is appointed as the Advisor to the MDA government.
