The Citizenship (Amendment) Bill will be tabled and passed in the Lok Sabha on December 9.
CAB is listed in the 16th position in the ‘List of Business’ to be tabled on Monday. The Bill is likely to be sent to the Rajya Sabha for introduction and approval on December 11.
Meanwhile, agitation against the Centre’s CAB move has already intensified with various groups and organisations taking to the streets after the Union Cabinet gave its nod to the contentious Bill in the Parliament on December 4.
Students groups including the All Assam Students Union have already announced a series of agitations beginning from Monday.
The influential North East Students’ Organisation (NESO) has called an 11-hour Northeast bandh on Tuesday to protest against the Centre’s move. The students’ body has been maintaining that the CAB is against the interests of the indigenous people of the region
