Names of Sarbananda Sonowal, Dilip Saikia and Parimal Suklabaidya is topping the list of probabales
With just one day to go for Narendra Modi to be sworn in for a third consecutive term as Prime Minister of India, all eyes are now on who are going to be the MPs form Assam who will make it to the Council of Ministers and be part of Modi Govt 3.0.
The names which are doing the rounds are – Sarbananda Sonowal, Dibrugarh MP and Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways and Ayush, Dilip Saikia, who won for a second term, Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, sitting Rajya Sabha MP who won from Kaziranga seat and Parimal Suklabaidya a cabinet minister in Himanta Biswa Sarma government who won from Sichar.
Check out details about each of the above mentioned MPs:
- Sarbananda Sonowal: Former Chief Minister of Assam, two-time Lok Sabha MP from Lakhimpur (2014-16) and Dibrugarh (2004-09) and sitting Rajya Sabha MP of BJP. He served as the Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports between 2014-16. He became the Chief Minister of Assam in 2016 and served in that capacity till 2021. After the Assam Assembly elections in 2021, Himanta Biswa Sarma was named as the Assam CM and Sonowal was made a Rajya Sabha MP. He was given the portfolios of Ports, Shipping and Waterways and Ayush in the Narendra Modi Cabinet. In the 18th Lok Sabha Elections, he won the Dibrugarh seat defeating Lurinjyoti Gogoi of the Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) by a 2,79,321 vote margin.
- Parimal Suklyabaidya: The 5-time MLA from Dholai assembly constituency is the Excise, Transport, and Fisheries Minister in the Himanta Biswa Sarma-led Assam government. He became a minister first time in the Sarbananda Sonowal-led Assam government in 2016. In the 18th Lok Sabha Elections, he won the Silchar seat defeating Surya Kanta Sarkar of Congress by 2,64,311 votes.
- Dilip Saikia: BJP National General Secretary Dilip Saikia won the Darrang-Udalguri seat previously known as Mangaldoi secured 868,387 votes. He served as Lok Sabha MP from Mangaldai between 2019 to 2024.
- Kamakhya Prasad Tasa: BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP who won the Kaziranga Lok Sabha sat by a margin of 2,48,947 votes defeating Congress candidate Roseline Tirkey.
From Assam, Rameshwar Teli and Sarbananda Sonowal were rewarded with ministerial positions in Prime Minister Narendra Modi 2.0 Cabinet.
PM Narendra Modi and the members of his new cabinet will take oath tomorrow at a grand ceremony at around 7:15 PM at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi.
