Meghalaya: Chargesheets to be filed against 5 accused involved in Ichamati and Mawlai Mawroh murder cases

East Khasi Hills SP Rituraj Ravi said, Police are making all efforts to expedite the investigation.

The East Khasi Hills police in Meghalaya will be filing chargesheets against 5 arrested persons for their alleged involvement in the recent 3 murder cases at Ichamati and Mawlai Mawroh.

Speaking to the media, East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police SP Rituraj Ravi said, Police are making all efforts to expedite the investigation and to ensure the charge-sheeting of all three cases will be filed within the timeframe.

“Investigation into these 3 cases are underway and we are making all efforts to expedite the investigation and to ensure that the charge sheet in all these 3 cases is filed within the timeframe. So far 4 persons have been arrested in connection with the twin murders at Ichamati while one person has been arrested for his involvement in the murder case at Mawlai Mawroh,” said SP Rituraj Ravi.

The bodies of L Esan Sing and L Sujit Dutta were recovered from the roadside at Ichamati and Dalda village in East Khasi Hills district on March 27.

15 days after the murder of the above mentioned two people, in another incident on April 10, one labourer was killed, while 2 others were seriously injured after they were assaulted at a construction site in Mawlai Mawroh by some unidentified people.
