Chandrapur minor girl gang rape’s prime accuse arrested

Barman was arrested by the police after he surrendered at the Pragjyotishpur Police Station today morning.

In a major breakthrough in the gangrape of a 13-year-old in Chandrapur on the outskirts of Guwahati, police arrested the main culprit Sanjib Barman.

Sanjib Barman was arrested six days after the sensational gang rape of a 13-year-old in Chandrapur on the outskirts of Guwahati.

As per inputs, Barman was arrested by the police after he surrendered at the Pragjyotishpur Police Station today morning.

Meanwhile, police have already arrested two more accused identified as Dipankar Roy and Nila Maluk.

Police have also seized one four wheeler and one two wheeler, allegedly used during the crime.

The incident took place on January 19, when the victim was on her way to Jonbeel Mela.

Further investigation is underway.

Last year, on October 29, a nine-year-old minor who lived near the Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati was allegedly raped in front of her mother.

According to the locals, the mother-daughter duo was seen begging outside the Kamakhya Temple for the past several months. They were living under the foot over bridge near the Temple.

Police arrested the accused identified as Nayan Haloi.
